Determination of 40st girl to lose weight
Georgia Davis has been featured in the news for all the wrong reasons. Initially, the teen made headlines when she hit 33st aged just 15. Nine months later, after attending a Wellspring weight loss camp in the United States of America, Georgia returned home having lost a whopping 15st. However, on her return home Georgia was presented with a meal of fish and chips from the local chip shop: hardly a healthy meal for her homecoming. Since returning home, Georgia has gained even more weight as a result of not having support from the Wellspring camp, the National Health Service or family. She now weighs an incredible 40st 6lb at the age of only 17.
Since her story was featured, a London based fitness coach Jane Dowling has offered to help Georgia free of charge, providing coaching and exercises to help her to lose weight. As she is so large, the exercises have to be tailored especially for Georgia. In addition to the exercises Georgia will also attend sessions with Nigel Denby, a London based nutritionist and a therapist from St Albans, Herts, Steve McKeown. Eventually Georgia plans to relocate to London from her home in Wales, although as her mum’s main carer it will be hard. Her mum, aged 56, has suffered heart problems and osteoarthritis for many years, which meant that Georgia ended up caring for her mum at the very young age of ten.
The move to London will help Georgia to concentrate on her own health for once, surrounded by people who will help and encourage her to lose weight healthily. Hopefully her therapist will help her to build self confidence and keep losing the weight. As doctors have warned Georgia that she will die young if she doesn’t lose weight, it is hoped that she can maintain a healthy weight, and live the life that she should be as a young girl, having fun.
