How does the CSA affect your kids health?

The Child Support Agency in the UK was originally set up with a view to ensuring that children from broken families receive regular maintenance payments from the non-resident parent in order to live. However, it quickly became apparent that the task was too great for any single organisation to handle, and with the CSA reportedly costing 70p for every £1 recovered, it has proved something of a colossal failure. The failure of the CSA has reached such a level that the new coalition government announced last year that it would be closed down, and its staff and responsibilities merged with the DWP.

Despite this however the CSA will still exist in some form, and it will still be chasing parents for money, mishandling cases and, in many cases, causing parents to end their own lives at the thought of not being able to support their children, play an important role in their lives and afford to live themselves.

This father from Manchester ended his own life after the CSA took more money than he could afford, leaving him with £10 one week when he worked full time in his local hospital.

The effect the CSA has had on families has been catastrophic and, rather than ‘facilitate the paying of maintenance’ the Child Support Agency has instead acted to drive families apart and ensure that, in most cases, fathers have no access whatsoever to their children. The CSA’s case workers have, on many occasions, been found to advise parents seeking payments for their children to block all contact with the father of their children as this will allow them to receive more money.

This is perhaps even more concerning when you consider that the government has now announced plans to allow the CSA to charge both parents with care and non-resident parents for its services, and for it to actually become involved in the contact arrangements between parents for their children. Giving the CSA any involvement with contact arrangements is clearly going too far considering they have utterly failed with their primary purpose, facilitating the payment of maintenance.

Children need both parents in their lives in order to grow up happy and well rounded, and being deprived of one parent due to the interference of a government agency driven by targets of increasing profit is affecting both parents and children alike. Families are being torn apart, fathers are being denied access, children and being deprived of both of their parents and mothers are being encouraged to use their children as weapons of emotional blackmail.

It’s time the CSA was put out to pasture, not merged with another agency or given even more powers. It has caused enough death, enough suicides, enough heartache – enough is enough. End this misery now, for all of our sakes but, most of all, our children’s.

Hi, I am an NRP, and I would like to share this, I wrote it for csahell.com, We will win against this barbaric agency because we are good people with the law on our side, we have not commited any crimes against any people, the country or its government, we were put in this situation by the hand of another and are be…ing punished for this without a fair trial or even the right to speak and be heard, our privacy has been shattered and we have been subjected to mental torture from the day the first CSA letter dropped onto our door mats, we are humans and not exempt from the rights of every other human being on this plannet just because our families fell apart. We are not here to be an endless supply of money, we are here to care for the ones we love, does the govenment concider a poor person unable to love their children? No, so why are we branded in this mannor? The CSA break many of our rights to live as human beings and I say we take them back!!
In a Nut shell I think the CSA is damaging to all who have contact with it and the children end up suffering the most, my ex took my daughter away over 400 miles and now I cant see her anymore, why? because she gets more money that way!!! I have lost my little girl and i am being fined by the Government for it!!!

I agree with you both and about time people realise the damage that is being done and the effect it will have on the children, some people are crying out to see their children and the children are missing out on the love, happiness and sometimes being involved in their new family and what it has to offer the children……all to often this is lost though and quite often this is due to parental alienation and the trauma that this can cause children now and in later life is wrong……seperation and divorce etc does not mean that though the parents are seperated that the children need to be too…….Me and my partner have a stable, happy home with our two girls……though due to the CSA my girls suffer…..but we can offer my partners children love and happiness though this was taken away from us by their mother, her choices and her decisions,,,,,The CSA have took away our money our rights to survive and be allowed to be a family and our right to provide for my children also….the have placed us and 2 small children in poverty…….but I will not let them take away our love and happiness. Seperation should be about the children and the love you can provide them not about MONEY!!! and its about time children were stopped being used as pawns and that NRP’S and their new families had a right to survive!! You can go to jail for mistreating a dog………yet what the goverment are doing to NRP’S and their new partners and children is far worse!!

the csa are destroying my childrens health and that is a fact, as they are an nrp’s family their welfare is ignored totally by the csa. my husband has not seen his daughter for 15 years as the mother decided to break the court access order and bleed him dry through this evil agency. it needs to be scrapped completely and immediately. Yes nrps should pay maintenance but not at the suffering of their new family, each case is individual and should be treated as such and if a mother denies access she should not be allowed to claim maintenance

I totally agree with you Rach if a mother wants sole access of the child and to deprive the father of all his rights then why should she be entitled to his money?? Why is it ok for her to move on in life but not the father?? My children are also suffering at the hands of the CSA…….we have been told by the council we shall face an eviction notice but the CSA do not care about this or how my children are suffering…….they state they are fighting child poverty yet they ARE!! the ones putting children like my own and yours also into poverty!! The goverment want to keep people off benefits and in employment yet due to the CSA payments they are instead forcing people into unemployment and onto benefits……SCRAP THE LOT OF IT!!! let NRP’S and their families have a LIFE!!! stop taking away their RiGHTS!! and stop placing young children into poverty and NRP’S into unemployment and taking their own life!! They should all be brought to court and charged with all of these things………..wen did it become ok for human cruelty but yet go to jail for animal cruelty?????

i agree with everything written..we are now being made homeless because of a greedy ex wife who plays the system and influencing the thoughts of a child.we have no monies for rent council tax etc but the ex has a partner home food and the child !! I am ashamed to be a woman when I see how some ex`s se their children to get monies and there usualy the ones who want the break up the family home..A father is for life so allow him to be one ,dont take away his life and his children because all this does have an effect on the children as they see the effect it has! sually bitter ex`s who destroy relationships between parents and children

Hello everyone, my name is Megan and I am 10 months old, I live in a house with my Mummy and Daddy and my big brother Jordan who’s 14 and my big sister Rhian who’s 12. I love my family. I have another big sister called Kristy who’s nearly 4, she lives with a different Mummy, I have never met my sister because her Mummy… took her far away and won’t let my Daddy see her anymore, this means my Daddy has to give her more money. I would love to see her and share my toys with her and show her how I can clap my hands and play peek a boo. It makes me feel sad that I can’t play with her and I know it makes my Daddy feel very sad that he can’t play with her too. I don’t understand why we can’t play with her, why another Mummy would not want her to see her Daddy just for money, all I want off my Daddy is cuddles and tickles and bedtime stories, Daddy is good at that and I bet Kristy misses it too. It makes me and my Daddy very sad x
