Junior Master chef an influence for child’s weight loss

Children in Ipswich have been taking part in a challenge to produce a tasty, healthy meal for a place on Junior Masterchef. Pupils at St Mary’s primary school in Ipswich have a healthy eating and exercise programme, with children aged from six years old taking part. The children all love watching the programme on television which has inspired them to learn about healthy eating as a lifestyle choice.

Pupils have been using fresh ingredients to make a meal including apricots, tomatoes, mushrooms and rice cakes. Taking part in the healthy eating and exercise programme has encouraged many of the children to want to cook at home, with healthy ingredients. The children are learning about the benefits of healthy food, as well as taking part in kids exercise programmes.

By using the popular television show as inspiration to the children, they are teaching the children how to eat healthy and exercise. This will hopefully encourage the kids to maintain a healthy lifestyle which will help to prevent obesity related illness. As well as learning about foods which are good for the body, the children will also be examining the texture of different foods and colours which make them appealing.

Kid’s exercise programmes combined with healthy eating will hopefully lead kids to make the right food choices in life and avoid obesity as a child and adult.
